Several people have been gunned down in a mass shooting at a university in tourist hotspot, Prague, Czech Republic.
The Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University in the city centre – a popular winter destination among Brits – was targeted in the attack this afternoon (Thursday, December 21). Several have been killed and more injured, it is claimed.
It is alleged the shooter has since killed himself after unleashing a tragic bloodthirsty frenzy on students in the capital city.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), journalist Filip Horký wrote: "There has been a shooting at the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University, in Prague. There are fatalities and injuries at the scene."
Photos and clips posted to social media showed people fleeing the scene. One video, which showed swathes of people running across a bridge in the capital city, was captioned: "Praga right now #prague #praga."
It is believed the shooter has been gunned down. Police have yet to confirm the reports.
One X user who said they are a student at the university wrote: "Currently stuck inside my classroom in Prague. Shooter is dead, but we are waiting to be evacuated. Praying to make it out alive.
"Locked the door before the shooter tried to open it. F***ing hell."
