The pretty little European city as beautiful as Munich but way less crowded

Visitors to Europe wary of crowds have the option of visiting Freiburg in Germany, an enchanting medieval city on the outskirts of the Black Forest.

Freiburg’s old town boasts a magnificent mediaeval cathedral, Renaissance university, and intricate canals. These waterways are known as “Bächle.”

These small water channels run along the streets and were historically used to fight fires.

According to local tradition, if you accidentally fall into a Bächle, you are destined to marry a Freiburger.

The city also acts as a gateway to the Black Forest’s dense forests, scenic landscapes, and charming villages.
