A member of one of Mexico's most powerful drug cartels allegedly disappeared victims by incinerating them in a brick kiln.
The man is identified in reports as Rogelio M, although he is known in criminal circles as El Roy.
According to documents leaked from the Mexican Secretariat of National Defence in 2022, he is a high ranking member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) – considered to be the country's most dangerous drug trafficking organisation.

El Occidental reports criminal proceedings were initiated against El Roy at a hearing on Sunday (October 8) and he is due to face trial over his involvement in the disappearance of people at a brickyard in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco.
Local authorities searched the site on August 20 and found a brick oven. The search also uncovered the remains of at least two people who are yet to be identified.
El Roy was subsequently arrested, accused of incinerating bodies in the oven. He will now be remanded in custody for a year as a precautionary measure.
El Roy was also arrested over the kidnapping of five young men in Lagos de Moreno, also in August. After they vanished, sickening footage emerged appearing to show one of them being forced to kill another.
However, criminal proceedings in relation to this other case were not initiated against El Roy at last weekend's hearing. According to El Occidental, the Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office did not reveal the reason for this.
Jalisco is the Mexican state with the most missing people, with nearly 15,000 unsolved disappearances according to the latest data. It is also one of many battlegrounds where the country's two biggest cartels – the CJNG and the Sinaloa Cartel – continue to wage war.
