Putin’s sex-mad gymnast lover on UK’s sanctions list as ‘Russian propagandist’

Russian President Vladimir Putin's sex-mad gymnast lover has found herself on the UK's latest sanctions list – because she's a massive “Russian propagandist”.

Olympic gymnast Alina Kabaeva, 40, has often been pictured by Putin's side whenever he wants to portray a more human side – rather than the war-mad despot he is most known to be. And she has also been very loud when it comes to backing her boyfriend over the invasion of neighbouring Ukraine since it started nearly two years ago.

However, in a new update to the UK's list of sanctioned Russians, the woman – who is also one of the most decorated rhythmic gymnasts in Russian Olympic history – has been listed because of her propensity to wheel out Russian propaganda.

The new listing states: “Alina Kabaeva is the Chair of the Board of Directors at Russia's National Media Group, which actively promotes Russian propaganda regarding the invasion of Ukraine. Accordingly, Kabaeva is involved in destabilising Ukraine as she herself or through her association with NMG is responsible for, engages in, provides support for, or promotes any policy or action which destabilises Ukraine or undermines or threatens the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine.”

She has been slapped with an asset freeze, travel ban and trust services sanctions. Already on the list is her grandmother Anna Zatsepilina, who also holds the same position as Kabaeva at the NMG.

And her mother Luybov is also on the list, for being involved with her daughter.

Despite the sanctions, it might be hard for the UK to find her, as the woman who is believed to be the mother of Putin's youngest children disappeared from public view around the time the real Putin was rumoured to have had a heart attack two weeks ago. Before her reported disappearance, she was often seen at her elite gymnastics academy in Russian city Sochi.

The last confirmed sighting of Kabaeva was on October 22 at a tournament held at her academy. She hasn't been seen since, although she has previously had long periods out of the public eye. This coincides with claims that Putin had suffered a cardiac arrest.

A rhythmic gymnastics tournament was advertised in Uzbekistan from November 9-13, but Kabaeva was nowhere to be seen.
