A woman who was searching for her lost engagement ring was left stunned after looking back at holiday snaps and spotting it being swallowed by an ostrich.

The lass, who posts on social media as @bikeearth_, is currently travelling around the world with her fiancé, documenting their adventures on social media.

Somewhere along the way, she was left devastated as she realised she had misplaced her engagement ring and decided to look back on her snaps to find out where she was last seen wearing it.

But to her astonishment — she actually caught a jewellery thief in the act of stealing the precious ring off her hand right before her eyes.

In a video, which has now gained more than 1.2million likes, the bride-to-be was seen holding out her hands to feed Ostriches at an enclosure when one took a swipe at her hand.

The big bird had swiped the ring with it's beak and immediately swallowed it — which was seen more clearly in a slowed down and zoomed in version of the clip.

She wrote in the caption: "When you look everywhere for your lost ring and find the truth in a video you took."

TikTok viewers took to the comments to express their shock at the clip as they branded the offending animal a "pickpocket".

    One user wrote: "Attention Pickpocket!"

Another added: "Took it like an aspirin too."

    A third commented: "PICKPOCKET."

"Omg! I can't believe this is on video too," a fourth said.

However, this ostrich isn't the only animal to have stolen an engagement ring as last year a woman was shocked when her missing diamond and sapphire engagement ring turned up inside her beloved pet dog.

Elayna Rattenbury, 38, lost the expensive ring from her bedside table but suspected her pet Labrador Stevie after he destroyed a box of tissues in her bedroom.

The legal director from Worcester then took the seven-month-old pooch to a vet, where an X-ray exposed Stevie as the culprit.
