The Met Office has issued an urgent Yellow weather warning to large parts of the United Kingdom with many Brits braced for some serious flooding.

The new warning covers parts of Cardiff, Plymouth, Bath, Portsmouth and Brighton, and starts at midnight. It will last until at least 6pm tomorrow (Thursday, November 16), with huge disruptions to travel expected for the area. No further warnings have been given for the rest of the week, as it stands.

The Met Office warns that spray and flooding on roads will “probably” make journey times longer, and that bus and train services will also “probably be affected” with journey times taking longer. Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible, and some interruption to power supplies and other services possible.

A spokesman said: “A spell of rain, heavy at times, will move east across southern parts of England and the south of Wales during Thursday, with 10-20 mm of rain falling widely with 30-40 mm possible near the south coast of England and over east facing hills.

“Strong winds, gusting 50 mph near coasts, will accompany the rain, with a small chance of gusts reaching 60 mph for the Isles of Scilly and west of Cornwall.” And on its new Warning Impact Matrix, it claims that all of this above is more likely to happen than not.
