President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned Ukraine could be plunged into darkness as Russia could be planning to target the country’s electrical infrastructure.
Once more, the Ukrainians have been called upon to show immense strength as winter closes in.
The leader expects more strikes on the country’s electrical grid after recent strikes to the electrical grid in Kherson.
He said engineers and rescuers had been deployed to repair the damage in the Kherson and Donetsk regions.
Last year, many Ukrainians faced a winter with temperatures as low as -20C without energy or water because of Russian artillery strikes.

President Zelensky said: “As winter comes, there will be more Russian strikes on our power facilities and grid. We need to be ready for this.”
He added: “Everyone needs to work together to prevent Russian attacks from disrupting Ukraine during the winter. We must show strength in all areas, including on the battlefield.”
Zelensky’s warning coincides with a statement made by Volodymyr Kudritsky, the head of Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s national electricity transmission company.
Speaking at the Kyiv International Economic Forum on October 12, Kudritsky reassured the public that, despite the damage inflicted on Ukraine’s power system, it can adequately meet the usual electricity demand throughout the winter.
Ukraine’s spy chief Kyrylo Budanov, also recently warned there would be a major battle for electricity.
He described Russia’s steadfast determination to continue bombing the energy sector, military facilities and industrial buildings, nothing there are no special Winter adjustments for their bombing campaigns.
He said: “They have enough forces and resources because they have recently carried out limited missile strikes.”
