In a horrifying tragedy, a gold mine in Zimbabwe has collapsed trapping 34 people, with six already confirmed dead and 15 fighting for their lives.
Miraculously, 13 of the victims have managed to get to safety. Those down below are still very much in danger. Emergency responders are doing their utmost to save as many individuals as they can.
The saddening collapse occurred at Beyhose mine in Chegutu, a gold-rich town located approximately 62 miles away from the Zimbabwean capital of Harare.

Unfortunately incidents like these aren't uncommon across the African nation, which is rich in gold, coal and diamonds.
The country boasts Africa's largest reserves of lithium, which is extremely desirable due to its use in electric car batteries. This often results in young people exploring the mineral-rich national parks, abandoned mines, rivers and even towns in a bid to uncover valuable deposits.
With the country in a state of disarray due to severe industry closures and a tumbling economy, people are forced to take risks in order to support their families.
Critics blame economic mismanagement and corruption for the collapse of a once-thriving economy and one of Africa’s bright spots. The government points to two decades of sanctions imposed by the United States over allegations of human rights violations.
Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, Polite Kambamura, said the search team has retrieved three bodies from the mine.
Estimates are that 21 miners are currently buried underneath the rubble, with six confirmed as dead.
Currently, the world is in the dark about what exactly caused the collapse.
