Gaza terrorists fire ‘powerful new weapon’ at Israeli resort town full of people

Gaza terrorists have fired Hamas’s “powerful new weapon” at an Israeli resort town full of innocent civilians in the latest escalation in the ongoing conflict.

The attack has been carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of Hamas and thought to be the largest and best-equipped group operating within Gaza today – according to a post on Telegram.

The group pounded the resort town of Eilat with an Ayyash 250 missile – considered to be the longest-range missile in Hamas’s arsenal.

This Telegram post, translated from Iranian, read: “Al-Qassam Brigades bombard ‘Eilat’ with an A,yyash 250 missile in response to the Zionist massacres against innocent civilians.”

The Ayyash 250 was recently branded “Hamas’ powerful new weapon” in an article by private television station Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International.

Introduced in 2021, it is considered to be the largest missile in Hamas’s arsenal and was used for the first time during the Sword of Jerusalem battle to target Ramon Airport in the southern Negev Desert.

On that occasion, it reached a distance of 220km, but it can actually exceed a range of 250km.

The destructive long-range Ayyash 250 missile has already been launched by Hamas terrorists in a separate attack in the past two weeks, triggering a new and dangerous escalation in the war.

On October 13 at around 3.30pm, the weapon was fired from the Gaza Strip towards Safed in the northern occupied territory of Palestine, Galilee, covering a range of 206km. The impact was felt 29km away by residents in southern Lebanon.

Gaza: Black smoke rises following large explosion

The latest missile attack comes after the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed that an airstrike killed a senior Hamas leader on Sunday.

Strikes in the Gaza Strip had killed dozens of Hamas targets overnight, including the deputy commander of the group’s rocket array.

IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said: “We are not stopping our attacks on the Strip. We are increasing the attacks in the Gaza Strip in order to reduce the threats to our forces in preparation for the next phase of the war.

“We will go to the next stage under the best conditions for the IDF and in accordance with the decision of the political echelon.”
