The former footballer confirmed the death of Kerry Icke, 48, in a post to X, formerly Twitter. He slammed the "madhouse reality" he lived in currently and said they would meet in another life.
His tribute garnered much attention from social media users, with the post racking up tens of thousands of likes and plenty of replies wishing Icke well.

The 71-year-old praised his daughter for being a "one-off". He also revealed she had suffered from a long illness over the last year.
He posted a photo of his daughter along with the statement, which read: "My wonderful, beautiful, daughter Kerry passed away today in hospital on the Isle of Wight after a stoic battle against a long illness. She was just 48.
"She left this world surrounded by her family and her fantastic boyfriend, Ede, who nursed her magnificently to the end. Kerry leaves two teenage children and a family who loved her so much. She was a one-off, a fiercely independent, outspoken, unique expression of the All That Is, and there will never be another quite the same.
"We know she is only a heartbeat away, a frequency vibration, and she will be around us still until we meet again in another realm beyond this madhouse reality that she saw through with a laser focus. We are all so proud of you, my darling, our Divine Spark. Never forget that."
Icke, who shot to prominence in conspiracy circles after alleging some highly-regarded figures were lizards, ended his statement with: "WE will never forget YOU."
Icke previously claimed every sitting US president, three British prime ministers and members of the Royal Family were reptiles or knew of a conspiracy of Satan-worshipers.
He labelled the Queen Mother as "seriously reptilian" in a 2001 interview while also maintaining the lizard-like creatures were feeding off of "negative energy" created by the Illuminati.
