Royal Caribbean crew members help to design their cabins
Royal Caribbean has announced that its latest Icon cruise ship, Star of the Seas, has finally been completed and is set to set sail out of Port Canaveral, Florida, in February of 2025.
Billed as the largest cruise ship in the world, the Canaveral Port Authority has confirmed that vacationers can begin booking the massive ship beginning December 5 for a 2025 sailing.
What’s more, the Canaveral Port Authority is cautioning curious cruisers to book their passage early, as the ship is projected to sell out at least a year in advance.
“This is tremendous news, and we are very proud to be the homeport for this remarkable new ship. Star of the Seas will add even more excitement to the Royal Caribbean fleet that calls Port Canaveral home,” Capt. John Murray, Port CEO, told WESH in a statement.
“We’re looking forward to her arrival in 2025 and will be ready to welcome her and the many cruise guests who will enjoy all that she has to offer.”
Though the Star of the Seas is set to make its maiden voyage in July 2025, the exact itineraries have not yet been released by the company.

Currently, the Star of the Seas is still under construction in Finland, and her full level of amenities have not yet been released.
For purposes of comparison, however, the current second largest cruise ship in the world — the Wonder of the Seas, which is also a Royal Caribbean ship — is an Oasis class ship, and features more than 18 decks of amenities for travelers.
The largest cruise ship in the world — also from Royal Caribbean — is an Icon class ship called the Icon of the Seas, which has 20 decks, and can hold a maximum of 7,600 guests.
It’s projected that the Star of the Seas will be larger than both.
