A Toyota car salesman has unveiled the purpose behind a little-known Mood button so you can take full advantage of the modern technology this brand’s new vehicles have to offer.
The auto professional, Steven Welch, filmed his explanation of the feature for YouTube at the dealership he works at in Nashville, Tennessee.
Steven’s (@stevenwelchtoyota) YouTube video tutorial begins with him entering a Toyota Sequoia SUV, but the Mood feature he covers is also available in other popular models within the manufacturer’s lineup, such as the Venza or Grand Highlander.
The Tennessee-based car salesman then films a closeup of the Mood button’s icon, revealing the switch as represented by an icon with a crescent-shaped moon and half of a sun pointing downward.
Next, Steven highlights how this video’s Sequoia and several other Toyotas have interior ambient lighting via LED strips.
These lighting strips are often found in areas that include, but aren’t limited to:
-
Above and below a front passenger’s glovebox
-
Below windows
-
Near driver pedals
-
A center console
Many drivers today might be aware of ambient lighting without knowing how Toyota’s Mood button correlates with the feature.
Steven explains drivers can streamline their customization of in-cabin ambient lighting by pressing the Mood button one, two, or three times.

The car salesman notes pressing Toyota’s Mood button once with interior ambient lighting at its brightest setting will dim the lighting.
He adds pressing the button again will turn the ambient lighting off completely, while one more push will bring the feature back to full brightness.
However, this isn’t the overlooked car button Steven has highlighted on his YouTube channel.
The auto salesman additionally explained how Toyota’s Snow button — a feature commonly offered by other car brands, gives your vehicle better winter handling.
