BMW has unveiled the second-generation X2 alongside its pure electric version, the iX2.
The new BMW X2 is larger than the previous version. The new SUV is 200 mm longer, 21 mm wider and 64 mm taller than the outgoing model and it rides on massive 21-inch alloy wheels, which are optional.
In terms of design, the BMW X2 adopts the brand’s latest design philosophy. The front end is reminiscent of the new 5 Series, albeit in a scaled-up form. The car has strong shoulder lines running along the sides and a coupe-like roofline. The rear features dual LED taillights, while the sportier M35i variant gets a gloss black spoiler at the back.
The second-gen X2 gets a new dashboard equipped with BMW’s Curved Display. It includes a 12.3-inch infotainment screen alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The SUV comes with features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, electrically adjustable seats with a massage function, a head-up display, wireless charging, Park Assist and cruise control; among others.
The BMW X2 is available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 154 BHP and 280 Nm, a 2.0-litre petrol that puts out 297 BHP and 400 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel that belts out 149 BHP and 360 Nm. All variants get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.
The BMW iX2 uses a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 309 BHP and 494 Nm, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The iX2 has a WLTP-certified range of 450 km. The battery supports 130 kW DC fast charging.
