That’s a wrap on summer but we’re still hitting the road and rediscovering excellent road-trip vehicles while puzzling over others. Here’s a look at model year changes on select 2024 cars and SUVs as well as test drives in new or familiar rides.
Here’s what moved us this week.

2024 Volvo XC60 review
A calming interior, decent turbo grunt, and tons of safety tech help the Volvo XC60 easily earn a TCC Rating of 7.3 out of 10.
2024 Chevrolet Blazer review
With good standard tech features, a range of trim levels, and the ability to out-handle most competitors, the midsize crossover SUV earns a TCC Rating of 6.3 out of 10. The forthcoming Blazer EV will be reviewed separately.
2024 Kia Carnival review
It may not be the life of the party, but the practical and stylish Kia Carnival will get everyone there in comfort. The spacious minivan earns a high 7.0 out of 10.

Test drive: 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander fills the 3-row gap

2024 Mitsubishi Outlander review
The plug-in hybrid Outlander is a better SUV than the gas Outlander, though we base our TCC Rating of 6.0 out of 10 on the latter’s overall value, standard features, and excellent warranty. If we rated the Outlander PHEV separately, its smooth performance and improved efficiency would bump its rating to 7.2 out of 10.
2024 Kia Soul review
The 2024 Kia Soul hatchback would be perfect for first-time new-car buyers, if only its safety scores were a little better. It’s a 6.0.
2024 Chevrolet Equinox review
The five-seat crossover SUV balances a reasonable price of entry with plenty of interior room, earning a TCC Rating of 5.7 out of 10.
