An after school club run by the Satanic Temple is due to be hit by protests when it launches in the US in the new year.<\/p>\n
After School Satan Club has announced it will launch at an elementary school in Tennessee but has been met with disapproval from community members who fear it could harm children.<\/p>\n
Protests are planned at Chimneyrock Elementary School, where the club will start in January, by The Uvalde Foundation for Kids. <\/p>\n

In a statement, the foundation said: \u201cWe are concerned that the presence of this club threatens to create ongoing conflict between community members; including other groups; which we fear could spill over and disrupt students; potentially placing them in harm.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Foundation says it will protest on January 3 and January 10 before the club launches, with reports people from Texas and California will attend.<\/p>\n
Speaking to WVLT8, concerned local Joevelyn Eubank said: \u201cThat\u2019s not a necessity at the school for a Satan Club, why should they be worried about that, when they should be worried about their education.\u201d<\/p>\n
The After School Satan Club has already made headlines earlier this year after several were hosted across the UK. <\/p>\n

Parents at schools such as Lebanon Elementary School in Connecticut had previously voiced concern online.<\/p>\n
One concerned parent even claimed they'd remove their child from school to keep them away from the club, commenting: "This seriously concerns me. My son will be home schooled."<\/p>\n
Speaking back in November, After School Satan Club\u2019s campaign director, June Everett attempted to ease parents' fears.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201c"We do not teach about Satan. We do not teach them songs to sing to their friends. There\u2019s no proselytising that takes place at all with our club.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to its website, The Satanic Temple doesn't believe in introducing religion into public schools and will only open their Satan after-school clubs in schools where other religious groups are already operating so they can provide an alternative.<\/p>\n
