The latest twist in the bizarre tale of Ukrainian dwarf Natalia Grace and her adoptive parents has been caught on camera, with Natalia coming face-to-face with the dad who labelled her a sociopath and a liar.

Michael Barnett and his wife Kristine, from Indiana, in the United States, adopted Natalia in 2010, thinking she was a six-year-old orphan with a rare genetic disorder. But they claim they later found out she was a homicidal adult who wanted to kill them and their other kids.

In 2012, a judge granted the family’s petition to legally change her birth date from 2003 to 1989. The family then moved her into an apartment while they moved to Canada.

Now the tense reunion between Natalia and Michael has been filmed for a Investigation Discovery (ID) documentary called Natalia Speaks.

In the film, they sit close to each other as Natalia dismisses Michael’s allegations, which include the claim that he once woke up to find her standing over her parents’ bed with a knife.

“I was never in y’all’s room with a knife,” she says. But Michael replies: “I know what I saw.”

The face-to-face confrontation can be seen in the six-part series which will be aired early next year on ID.

In the show, Natalia says: “In every lie is a hidden truth, but you gotta dig enough to see it. They are not going to get away with this.”

She also says she “lost her childhood” after Michael and Kristine’s successful petition to have her age legally changed.

The Barnetts were held in custody in 2019 on child neglect charges accused of abandoning Natalia when they moved to Canada. Michael was acquitted of the charges and Kristine had her case dismissed.

Cynthia Mans, Natalia’s new adoptive mum, tells the film that justice wasn’t served, and that Michael just “smirked” when he was cleared.

“It was like watching my daughter be raped,” Cynthia said. “If I could have caught Kristine in an alley and put a black hoodie on, I would have busted her upside the head.”
