A mother of three in Russia has entered the race against Vladimir Putin for the 2024 presidential election.

Political outsider, Ekaterina Duntsova, 40, comes into the contest with no experience in Russian politics and no ties to the established parties.

Duntsova’s platform calls for an end to the war in Ukraine, democratisation and the release of political prisoners.

She is up against a Kremlin establishment that routinely rigs elections to ensure 71-year-old Putin remains in power.

However, the 40-year-old newcomer believes age, gender and lack of political background could play to her advantage in the coming contest.

Duntsova has been forced to meet with prosecutors, a likely sign of the Kremlin’s concern, and was questioned about her position on Putin’s war in Ukraine.
