Dreaming of leaving the UK and settling in a sunnier destination? Many Britons apparently have the same idea, according to a new study from the team at Remitly.

According to the team’s research, the city Brits are most desperate to move to is Dubai. With year round warm weather and tax-free salaries, it’s no surprise many Britons are keen to leave the UK for the Middle Eastern city.

The most populous city in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is also a major tourist destination with several record-breaking attractions, including the world’s deepest swimming pool.

Its best-rated attraction is the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Several tourists described the views from the top as “breathtaking”.

Dubai also has a low crime rate although Britons will need to get used to the country’s laws and customs. People can be jailed for swearing and are required to dress modestly.

London landed lower down the table.

Don’t miss… Jago McKenzie, business management director at Remitly said: “People are getting used to the idea of moving to another country at least once in their lifetime, whether that be for greater job prospects, a better quality of life or an increased salary to enable them to send money back home to their families.

“With that in mind, it’s not surprising that so many people around the world are searching for information about the city that could be their next home.

“Dubai was a clear winner in our study, and with the plethora of employment prospects and lifestyle benefits it can offer, coupled with the fantastic weather, it’s not hard to see why.”
