Fortnite fans are in for a bit of a wait as the game goes offline for extended maintenance.

Developer Epic Games is launching update 27.10, which kicks off OG Season 7 and 8. This update will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC from the morning of November 16.

However, there will be a period of server downtime, meaning players won't be able to access Fortnite for at least a few hours. Epic Games took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the news, along with details of when servers will go offline for maintenance.

The post read: "What do you call frozen pirate treasure? …Pol-arrr loot! Downtime for v27.10 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking being disabled shortly beforehand."

For UK fans, the game has been fully offline from 9am GMT, with matchmaking disabled from 8.30am. Epic Games Epic hasn't said exactly when downtime will end, but it usually lasts about two hours. This means Fortnite should be back up and running by 11am GMT at the latest.

With the update, Epic is bringing back Frosty Flights and a snow biome. The new release will also include Pirate Camps, "swashbuckling gear" and various weapons and items. Weapons coming out of the vault include the Flint-Knock Pistol, the Minigun, and the mighty Quad Launcher.

Players can also use the Poison Dart Trap, but not in Zero Build. The Itemised Glider Redeploy is making a comeback, along with Buried Treasure, which could feature in some challenges. Perhaps the most thrilling part is the return of the X-4 Stormwing and the Pirate Cannon, which lets you launch your teammates.
