Roads are simply too dangerous for outsiders.<\/p>\n<p>Documentary-maker Nick from Indigo Traveller went there to find out the truth about the most dangerous place in Argentina, where apartments can be rented for as little as \u00a330 a month.<\/p>\n<p><b> READ MORE: Inside &apos;Zombie Avenue&apos; where stumbling drug addicts&apos; skin &apos;falls off their faces&apos;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As he enters Villa 31, he says \u201cyou can definitely feel the atmosphere starting to change, it\u2019s a sketchy feeling\u201d. Most of the city\u2019s 16million or so inhabitants would never dare go there.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article31423866.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_Screenshot_2023-11-13_at_082627.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Some buildings, which are occupied by local gangsters, are completely encased in metal cages to deter intruders. He continued: \u201cI\u2019ve been around the world, in all kinds of different neighbourhoods and I&apos;ve never seen quite such high security as this.<\/p>\n<p>Much of his tour is on the back of a motorbike. \u201cIt\u2019s best to bike through these areas, so you can get away quickly if anything happens,\u201d he explains. Even so, there are some streets that Nick\u2019s guide tells him it\u2019s safest to avoid.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article31423864.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/2_Screenshot_2023-11-13_at_082002.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article31398037.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/1_el-ch-apooo.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> &apos;I broke into El Chapo&apos;s son&apos;s home after bloody battle and was horrified by what I saw&apos;<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When the motorway was built, some residents were told to move out but others stayed put and a few houses actually have the huge concrete flyover cutting through their walls.<\/p>\n<p>Nick\u2019s guide Lenny says: \u201cThe highway must be very loud in there. I can\u2019t imagine what it would be like living there and have all the cars passing all the time\u2026 I hope they don\u2019t have a crash\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article31425496.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Screenshot-2023-11-13-at-082416.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article31238742.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_house-main.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> &apos;I can&apos;t believe they let us see this&apos; \u2013 urban explorer tours &apos;worst house in England&apos;<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most locals don\u2019t pay for their utilities. \u201cThey just hijack the power so nobody pays for electricity\u2026\u201d One local woman, named Maria, bought her three-roomed apartment for $50,000. <\/p>\n<p>Maria, like many of the residents of Villa 31, is from neighbouring Bolivia. She says she moved to Argentina to escape a violent husband. <\/p>\n<p>She says she doesn\u2019t pay for her water or electricity but Maria\u2019s house, like many others in Villa 31, is at the top of a rickety iron staircase that looks set to collapse at any minute.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article31423865.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/2_Screenshot_2023-11-13_at_081917.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article31371102.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_A-Mexican-policeman-guarda-the-surroundi.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> Brutal cartel-run Mexican prisons where inmates &apos;play basketball with decapitated heads&apos;<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Javier, a fireman from the neighbourhood\u2019s little prefab fire station, says that while there are a few fires to deal with most of his time is taken up dealing with people that have fallen from the buildings. \u201cTwo or three people\u201d fall from the buildings every day, Javier says.<\/p>\n<p>Another Villa 31 resident, Druben, happily admitted to being a former bank robber. He&apos;s currently sleeping rough in the slum, after serving a lengthy prison sentence. <\/p>\n<p>His body is covered in tattoos \u2013 he even has his mother&apos;s name inked on his forehead. After being released from jail, he says, he has found God and is trying to make the world a better place. <\/p>\n<p>Like a lot of run down neighbourhoods, most of the people are pretty warm and welcoming, Nick says, but there\u2019s an undercurrent of danger in Villa 31 that makes some parts of the neighbourhood complete no-go areas.<\/p>\n<p>The Argentine authorities have tried more than once to clear the slum, and rehouse the people living there, but many are suspicious of the government\u2019s motives.
