Souvlaki, sunsets and black sand beaches, it\u2019s no wonder that Santorini is one of the world\u2019s most romantic holiday destinations. But a break on the island doesn\u2019t come cheap.<\/p>\n

Along with Mykonos, Santorini is one of Greece\u2019s most expensive islands with prices often upwards of \u00a31,000 per person for a week\u2019s stay.<\/p>\n

Its popularity can also make it a little overcrowded. The island is a leading cruise destination and thousands of passengers are dropped off each day.<\/p>\n

One tourist who visited recently complained that the island was packed with \u201csuper rude tourists\u201d that ruined their experience.<\/p>\n

Luckily, the expert travel team at Expedia have selected the ideal destination dupe for Santorini. Gorgeous Paros is a cheaper and quieter alternative.<\/p>\n

As there are no direct flights from the UK and many other major European countries to Paros, the pretty island doesn\u2019t experience the crowds that Santorini gets.<\/p>\n

Parikia is Paros\u2019 main town and the starting point for many tourists. \u2018Mairwen1\u2019 wrote on Tripadvisor: \u201cI loved Parikia. It also feels less crowded and not as commercialised.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Gnitelrene\u2019 said: \u201cPretty Parikia. This is not just a tacky tourist area, as locals still live here, go about their business and close their shops for a few hours a day.\u201d<\/p>\n
