A Jewish woman has been stabbed in her own home in France, with police finding a Swastika plastered to her door.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, heard the doorbell ring at her home in Lyon on Saturday afternoon.

Upon answering, she was knifed twice in the stomach, a police spokesperson confirmed.

The attacker, a man, then fled the scene and remains on the run.

Police say he is dressed all in black and had his face hidden during the horror attack.

The attacks comes as France experiences a wave of anti-Semitic attacks.

Since the Hamas attacks on October 7 and the subsequent war launched by Israel in the Gaza Strip, 819 acts of anti-Semitism have been reported in France: more incidents in three weeks than over the past year.

The offences range from verbal abuse and anti-Semitic graffiti to physical assaults and death threats.

Speaking to France 24, a Jewish man revealed what life has been like in the country over the last few weeks. David said he knows of a group of Jewish friends who were followed and threatened by another group of young people.

He added: “This is why [Jewish] people are withdrawing into their communities. It makes you want to get together with people who are facing the same problems.”

In light of the growing number of anti-semitic incidents, French Senator and member of the Les Républicains party Stéphane Le Rudulier likened the current climate to World War II, as he wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “In 2023, in the middle of Paris, anti-Semitism is back in full view.
