The Home Secretary warned that chanting for the erasure of Israel from the map would not be tolerated in the UK.<\/p>\n

It comes after pro-Palestinian protesters called for an intifada from \u201cLondon to Gaza\u201d at a huge rally in London on Saturday
\u200cThe new chant was heard repeatedly as at least 100,000 protesters made their way to Parliament Square calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.<\/p>\n

It has prompted warnings that permitting such inflammatory language posed a \u201cserious danger\u201d to Britain\u2019s Jewish community.
Police remain under intense scrutiny after previous marches saw calls for \u201cjihad\u201d and \u201cfrom the river to the sea, Palestine will be free\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ms Braverman hit out after attending an emergency Cobra meeting chaired by Rishi Sunak on the crisis in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all let me explain what we\u2019ve seen over the last few weekends, we\u2019ve seen now tens of thousands of people take to the streets following the massacre of Jewish people, the single largest loss of Jewish life since the Holocaust, chanting for the erasure of Israel from the map,\u201d she warned.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo my mind there is only one way to describe those marches: they are hate marches.\u201d Earlier, Downing Street warned it is \u201cnot acceptable\u201d for people to call for intifada or chant \u201cfrom the river to the sea\u201d.<\/p>\n

Asked about reports pro-Palestinian demonstrators had used the Arabic word meaning shaking off or struggle, the Prime Minister\u2019s official spokesman said: \u201cObviously that\u2019s not acceptable and people need to think extremely carefully about the impact of their actions following a traumatic terror event which saw more than 1,000 people killed.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the chant \u201cfrom the river to the sea\u201d is \u201cdeeply offensive\u201d to many. The Home Secretary also revealed that the UK\u2019s terror threat level remains unchanged at \u201csubstantial\u201d.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cThe Prime Minister chaired a Cobra meeting today, and I briefed him alongside operational leads from policing, counterterrorism and security agencies on the domestic security picture because, of course, keeping the British people safe is my top priority.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Sir Mark Rowley himself said, there is an accelerated terrorism threat because of what\u2019s happening and it\u2019s vital that we keep a close eye on the developing situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about the threat level, Ms Braverman said: \u201cJTAC, the Joint Threat Assessment Centre, has maintained its assessment to date.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Daily Express understands that Mr Sunak asked police and security agencies at the Cobra meeting to wargame a response to potential counter-terror or public order scenarios.<\/p>\n

He has also asked all government departments \u201curgently review\u201d their engagement with external groups, to ensure no resources are going to any individuals or organisations that express sympathy with terrorist activity.<\/p>\n

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley warned on Sunday that terrorism is being \u201caccelerated\u201d by events in the Middle East, as he raised concerns about \u201cstate threats from Iran\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly is in Abu Dhabi for talks on getting humanitarian aid into Gaza and allowing civilians, including British nationals, to leave.<\/p>\n

He said the United Arab Emirates has had a \u201cthoughtful and authoritative\u201d voice on aid, as he meets Emirati foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.<\/p>\n

Mr Cleverly warned supplies are \u201cpredominantly stuck\u201d in Egypt as allies push for a \u201chumanitarian pause\u201d to allow aid to reach the Gaza Strip, which is home to more than two million people.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s trickling through, but we need a significant increase in the volume,\u201d he told broadcasters in the UAE.<\/p>\n
