The Met Office has warned that Britons living in areas impacted by Storm Babet will continue to struggle as forecasters predict a rain deluge will pour over the UK for another 10 days.

Babet departed British shores last weekend after having pounded the country with vicious wind and rain, leaving vast tracts of land inundated with floodwaters and hundreds of homes damaged.

Charities have launched appeals to help homeowners salvage some of their lost properties as recovery efforts continue, but the Met Office’s latest forecast suggests they’re not out of the woods.

The agency has warned unsettled weather is likely to continue into the coming weekend as low pressure feeds weather fronts drifting across the country.

And BBC forecasts show that, unfortunately for Babet’s thousands of victims, persistent rainfall could last for another 10 days, into the first few days of November.
