A UK expat has shared her story of success since leaving Britain for good after getting fed up with Britain’s ‘miserable’ weather and pub culture.

Claudia Woodham left her homeland in 2018 and, besides a brief return enforced by the pandemic, has vowed ‘I’m most likely never going to return’.

Speaking from Thailand, she also listed the increased cost of living and bad weather as reasons for her departure.

She said: ‘A lot of people are really miserable in the UK and you feel that vibe and that energy everywhere you go.

‘I was miserable in the UK as well so I was part of the problem.’

Claudia Woodham left the UK permanently in 2018 and, besides a brief return enforced by the pandemic, has vowed ‘I’m most likely never going to return’

She said: ‘A lot of people are really miserable in the UK and you feel that vibe and that energy everywhere you go’

Ms Woodham suggested that the weather may be partly to blame, with the cliched abundance of gray in the British sky hardly a cheery backdrop for the day.

The weather was also a contributor to her leaving the UK for its impact on the nation’s culture and lifestyle.

‘Not really being able to do that much outdoorsy stuff 80 per cent of the year, the weather is a big part of the reason [I left],’ she told over 750,000 viewers on TikTok.

‘I’m somebody who loves being near the beach, I love swimming in the ocean, I love tanning, being in the sun – there’s none of that in the UK.’

While stressing to add that she understood how people can enjoy life on the British Isles, another issue Ms Woodham found with the lifestyle was ‘living for the weekend’.

‘I don’t want to live for the weekend anymore,’ she continued, ‘I don’t want to go out drinking, I don’t want to go to the pub.

‘That seems like it’s one of the main social things to do in the UK.

‘The final thing is the standard of living is just so low for the wages and the money you get paid.’

She later detailed how she set up an online sales and marketing business after moving abroad which now earns her a six-figure salary.

‘Most people are not paid enough for what they do compared with a lot of other countries.

‘If you have a skill or some kind of value that you can take, and work somewhere else, and have a much higher quality of life, why wouldn’t you?’ She asked.

Initially, after leaving the UK, Ms Woodham spent two years travelling before being back in the UK for the pandemic.

Since starting her business she has never looked back, saying: ‘I’m earning a decent living from that business and I also get to choose wherever I want to live in the world because I’m working fully remotely.

‘Now I’m living in Thailand and I’m getting a much higher quality of life and my money goes much further than it would in the UK.’
