From centuries-old cathedrals to bustling markets, Lincoln is the perfect place to visit for anyone travelling around the UK this autumn.<\/p>\n

Lincoln is a beautiful city which has become famous for its medieval architecture, but unfortunately during the summer months, it tends to be packed with tourists.<\/p>\n

However, now in autumn is the best time to explore Lincoln and not only will there be fewer visitors around, but this historic city is surrounded by picturesque parks such as the Whisby Nature Park and the Arboretum which are known for their spectacular autumn leaves.<\/p>\n

Not only that but the city\u2019s cobblestone streets, medieval castle remains and world-famous gothic Lincoln Cathedral look incredible at this time of year, and the city has many cosy pubs or teahouses to stay toasty in at this time of year.<\/p>\n

According to the Oxford Royale, Lincoln has been named one of the best cities to visit in the autumntime due to its rich history and gothic architecture. They said: \u201cIf you\u2019re interested in medieval England, Lincoln is a great place to visit\u2026[the] city is home to a beautiful 14th-century Gothic cathedral, a 12th-century bridge, and an 11th-century Norman castle; the latter holds one of only four preserved copies of the original Magna Carta.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lincoln\u2019s autumn weather tends to be very mild before winter begins, so you can easily wander the city’s historic wonders during the autumn season.<\/p>\n

Lincoln Cathedral should be the first place you visit and you can immediately see it no matter where you are in the city, as this iconic landmark for the tallest building in the world for over 200 years, overtaking the Great Pyramid of Giza until the 1500s.<\/p>\n

This magnificent building was commissioned by Willian the Conquerer in the 11th century during the Norman invasion of Britain, so there are almost a thousand years of history to explore at the cathedral.<\/p>\n

You can then walk in the footsteps of royalty by visiting Lincoln Castle, and the Norman castle is a beautiful place to have a coffee or picnic in autumn as visitors as free to explore the castle grounds. The castle features an archelogy exhibition and spooky Victorian dungeon, as well as being the home to the famous Magna Casta charter.<\/p>\n

Visitors who wish to explore more of the city’s incredible history should consider going on the Lincoln Medieval Wall Walk which takes people not only on a journey of the history but will show you some amazing views of Lincoln Cathedral from the castle east battlements wall.<\/p>\n
