A woman from Derby has vented her rage after student’s errant parking habits saw her blocked from entering her home for an hour.

Gail Roberts was left somewhere between the extremes of “exploding and bursting into tears” after trying to get into her home in Queensway opposite Markeaton Park in Derby. Her home is located close to Kedleston Road and Markeaton Street campuses of the University of Derby, and as such has seen overflow parking straying close to her home.

So close, in fact, that an Access Only sign has, according to DerbyshireLive, been ignored by students using her road as a place to park. It has no yellow lines making it a popular area to park. But this, she says, means she is having almost weekly battles to try and park in her home.

Things hit a fever pitch yesterday (October 5) when she was on her way back from church and got stuck outside of her own home for an hour. When the student finally turned up, things were made worse by an argument starting.

Gail, who suffers from MS, told the outlet: "I'm bordering between exploding and bursting into tears. It's very unfair. The students are contravening regulations by parking here. It's just ridiculous. This year it's just worse than ever. No one seems interested in helping. What do I do?"
