Travel chaos defined the summer with cancelled flights, train strikes and traffic jams dominating the headlines.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s no surprise that more and more British holidaymakers are attracted to walkable destinations where there\u2019s no need to rely on public transport.<\/p>\n
New research from the team at Preply has found the most walkable city in the UK and luckily for staycationing Britons, it\u2019s packed with incredible attractions.<\/p>\n
The team analysed the walking distance and number of steps between each city\u2019s top five attractions to find the easiest to explore on foot.<\/p>\n
But where was the most pedestrian friendly city in the UK?<\/p>\n
READ MORE <\/strong> Cruise guests issued holiday warning to check schedule \u2018every morning\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Oxford topped the rankings and was named the UK\u2019s most walkable city and it takes just 2,310 steps to explore the top attractions.<\/p>\n Famed for its university, Oxford was nicknamed the “City of Dreaming Spires” due to its medieval architecture.<\/p>\n A Tripadvisor spokesperson said: \u201cIn the city of dreaming spires, academia takes centre stage. The library is magnificent and well worth seeing.\u201d<\/p>\n Other top city attractions include the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology and the University Museum of Natural History.<\/p>\n As the majority of Oxford\u2019s top attractions are centred around the University, it\u2019s easy to walk between the sights.<\/p>\n However, the UK isn\u2019t particularly pedestrian friendly when compared to other European destinations.
