The US military is tracking another mysterious balloon after the strange object was spotted flying in the country's airspace, officials have said.
A report citing three anonymous US officials stated that the object recently flew over portions of Hawaii – but did not go over any sensitive areas.
Military personnel have been tracking the flying object since late last week, and they have determined it poses no threat to aerial traffic or national security, the Washington Examiner reported.
Reports state that it is not thought to be Chinese in origin, and it is headed for Mexico. It has no ability to propel itself, reports claimed.
However, US officials said the balloon could still be shot down if it comes towards land.
It comes after a Chinese balloon ventured into US airspace earlier this year. China later claimed that the spy balloon was actually a civilian "airship" used for research.
In a statement in February, China's Foreign Ministry explained that the balloon had "deviated far from its planned course" due to strong winds.
