A man and boy drowned while rafting on the Arkansas River near Pueblo on Sunday, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

The pair were ejected from a raft and trapped by a river hydraulic about 1:30 pm., according to a statement from the police department. The two were submerged for several minutes until the raft “emerged from the current” pulling the man and boy, who were tangled in a rope.

Both were wearing personal flotation vests.
