An 11-year-old girl has been left fighting for her life after she suffered multiple serious injuries following a collision with a car in Coventry.

Police rushed to Tamworth Road on October 22 at around 6pm to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

Officers discovered an 11-year-old girl who had suffered multiple, serious injuries, which have since been described as life threatening.

Paramedics at the scene arrived to find a member of the public performing CPR on the 11-year-old before West Midlands Ambulance Service took over.

She was taken to University Hospital Coventry on blue lights where she remains fighting for her life.

Paramedics also treated the driver of a Toyota Verson, a 53-year-old man, also involved in the crash, CoventryLive reports.

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car also attended the scene to aid police.

West Midlands Police have confirmed they’re investigating the circumstances around the crash.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Crews arrived to find a girl, the pedestrian, in a critical condition after coming into collision with a car, with bystander CPR already in progress.

"Staff then took over in administering life support to the patient whilst getting her on to the ambulance.

"She was then taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire on blue lights and sirens with the doctor and critical care paramedic on board continuing treatment.

"The second patient, a man, believed to be the driver of the car, was also treated at the scene and conveyed to UHCW for further assessment."

Officers have not yet formally spoken to the driver of the Toyota as he needed medical assistance but will do so in due course.

The force are urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to come forward, or anyone with dash cam footage to do the same.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’re appealing for information after an 11-year-old girl has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Coventry.

"She was struck by a Toyota Verso on Tamworth Road, near the junction of Waste Lane, at around 6.10pm yesterday (22 October).

"The girl was rushed to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

"The 53-year-old driver of the Verso remained at the scene, but was not spoken to at the time as he required medical attention. This will be done in due course as we seek to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

"We’re keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage, or who was in the area at the time and has not spoken to us already."
