Funeral director ‘caught with sexually explicit photos of corpses’

A funeral director has appeared in court accused of possessing pornographic photos of corpses being "sexually abused".

Magistrates in Blackpool, Lancashire heard Nigel Robinson-Wright "would have access" to the corpses in the photographs and that they "could be taken at his place of work".

The 40-year-old also stands accused of trying to arrange or facilitate the sexual abuse of a female toddler.

Robinson-Wright, of Staining near Blackpool, also faces accusation of having images of himself having sex with a dog.

He was arrested after the allegations came to light following a probe by investigators with the Metropolitan Police.

The undertaker has previously been involved in working with local community groups.

He has also taken part in the annual Armistice Day parades in Blackpool.

Robinson-Wright was quizzed by officers and charged with arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.

He was also charged with three counts of possessing indecent images of a child and possessing extreme pornography.

Prosecutor Peter Kelly told Blackpool magistrates on Wednesday: "The pictures in the charges also include sexual abuse of corpses he, as a funeral director, would have access to and which could be taken at his place of work."

Robinson-Wright was kept in custody with his case being sent to Preston Crown Court.

He is next due to appear in court next month on Wednesday, December 1.
