Brit mum and friends refused to wear masks on plane and ‘coughed as a joke’

A mum has been slammed after posting a selfie of herself and two friends not wearing masks on a flight home from Berlin.

Charisse Burchett, from Bath in Somerset, and her pals were described as "spoiled brats" for boarding the flight without the protective measure.

Sharing a "cheeky photo" on Twitter, Burchett wrote: "We had a 10 Brit maskless standoff at Berlin airport…..police and authorities could not make us wear masks.

“Our last protest on German soil. I love this cheeky photo.”

The group also started "coughing as a joke", a passenger claimed.

The mum later claimed in a tweet that their friendship group had "medical exemptions", and therefore didn't need to travel on the plane with masks.

However, the group of Brits have been slated for their "childish" behaviour on social media, and other passengers on the flight have since claimed that the women coughed on multiple occasions, which sounded "very fake" and "put on".

As well as this, Burchett – who is an anti-vaxxer – and pals were said to be "marching up and down the departure gate and shouting".

Speaking to MailOnline, an onlooker revealed: "They were universally condemned by all other passengers in the airport."

The source added: "The police only arrived when they were getting irate with the airport staff who wanted to see their doctors note for the 'medical exemption' which is the rule in Germany."

The image has since gone viral on Twitter, amassing thousands of retweets, the vast majority of which are of people slating the parent's decision to be "so careless".

One angry user wrote: “Imagine being so selfish AND so self-absorbed as to advertise it.”

Another added: “Hope you or your friends don’t catch covid and are seriously ill. Totally disrespectful of others country’s rules. I despair.”

A third wrote: “I’m trying to work out a way in which you could possibly be more selfish. So far I’m drawing a blank.”

However, Charisse doesn't seem to be phased by the masses of hateful messages, stating that "masks are making people sick" and adding she'd been to protests with over 30,000 people and "nobody got sick".

Charisse added: “This virus has a 99 per cent recovery rate and the agenda is dark.”

The Daily Star has approached Burchett for comment.
