Boozy Brits pack bars as they hit the town for more Coronation celebrations

Brits made the most of the bumper Bank Holiday weekend by packing out pubs and bars last night (Sunday, May 7) following King Charles' Coronation.

With no fear of needing to get up today (Monday, May 8) for work, revellers maintained the Coronation celebrations well into the early hours.

Many pulled out their fanciest outfits, fit for royalty, or donned Union Jack-themed clothing to mark the historic occasion.

Boozy Brits in cities such as Leeds and Newcastle posed for snappers as they made their way about town.

And no doubt there will be a number of sore heads this morning, even without work.

The partying followed the Coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday and the Coronation Concert on Sunday.

The big day itself saw thousands of royal fans make their way to London from all across the world.

Fulfilling his life-long destiny, Charles became the 40th reigning monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey.

William the Conqueror was the first on Christmas Day in 1066.

Charles' big moment was marked when the St Edward's Crown, made for Charles II in 1661, was placed on his head.

But things turned awkward when it took the Archbishop of Canterbury multiple attempts to get the heavy crown to rest on his head.

He was crowned in front of millions watching around the world as well as an Abbey full of special guests. Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry (relegated from the front row) were all there, with Meghan Markle remaining in the US.

Harry was not among the Brits celebrating well into Monday morning as he jetted back across the Atlantic immediately after the ceremony.

He was reportedly keen to make it back to the US in time to celebrate Prince Archie's fourth birthday, which was also on Saturday.
