Emmanuel Macron warned the UK if clear “conditions aren’t met” Brexit negotiations with the European Union will conclude in no deal.
The French leader reiterated his commitment to securing a strong deal on fisheries as he said he will not allow France’s fishing communities to pay the price “for a decision taken by the UK.”
Speaking ahead of the latest EU Summit in Brussels he said: “Brexit can’t lead to social or environmental dumping at our borders – we need to find an agreement on that.
“If conditions aren’t met it’s possible we won’t have an agreement. We are ready for that. We are finalising measures to take in all sectors, and if there are no good terms found at the end of the discussion we are ready for a no deal.”
He added: “France is ready.”
