Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan has lauded the UK-Australia trade deal, hailing it as an opportunity to “stand up to liberty” in Britain’s post-Brexit era. Meeting with her counterpart Don Farrell in Adelaide, she discussed the deal agreed in December 2021.

In the speech to Australian political and business leaders, Ms Trevelyan said: “We welcome Australia’s ongoing commitment to a free, stable and open Indo-Pacific region based on the rule of law, human rights, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

She continued: ”Our friendship with Australia is more important than ever.

“Together, we show the world that we will stand up for liberty, that we fight back against tyranny, and we will defend our societies’ shared values.”

The bombshell £2.3billion deal is estimated to increase British GDP by 0.08 percent.
